Aira Võsa

In her contribution to the research project on early modern literature of the nobility, Aira Võsa focuses primarily on theological texts, written in a variety of genres ranging from academic dissertations and disputations to spiritual poetry. Theological texts by Baltic nobles will be analysed both from the perspective of intellectual and literary history. Because of the organic connection between the authors and their biographies, Aira Võsa will also be conducting biographical research. For the handbook „Nobility and Literature in the Baltic Lands in the early modern period“ she is preparing biographies of the outstanding authors (Andreas Virginius, Gustav von Menden). In order to provide a more specific profile of the potential authors, Aira Võsa is supplementing the prosopographic list of Baltic nobles (ennobled up to 1730).
